Cabin / Car
The cabin/ car is the main component of the Elevator. It is used for the closed transport of passengers and goods.

Cable / Rope
The cable supports the vehicle (passes through drive sheave and counterweight) and pulls the vehicle. The average number of lays varies depending on the load and the speed of the lift.

Traction machine
All traction lift equipment A basic traction machine is made up of a motor, a drive sheave, a brake and a machine bed plate. The drive sheave is turned by the traction machine motor. As the sheave rotates, the hoist ropes traverse the drive sheave, pulling the vehicle through the liftway.

Elevator controller
The Elevator controller is the system that controls the elevators, whether manually or automatically. The controller typically controls the voltage from 12V up to 24V for the controlling system. Only the motor requires 3-phase power. The low-voltage power supply is used for the control component and fixtures to operate the elevator

Counter weight
In practical terms, elevators operate slightly differently from ordinary hoists The weight of the counterweight is equal to 40-50% (i.e., the car’s weight plus 40-50% of the lift car’s total weight). The counterweight increases when the lift lifts, decreases when the lift lowers, and increases again when the lift lowers. This helps us in the following four ways: The counterweight reduces the amount of force the motor needs to exert to move the vehicle forward or backward. Suppose the car and its mass is heavier than the counterweight. The motor only has to lift the difference in mass between the two and provide a little extra force to overcome the friction of the pulleys, etc.
Because less force is applied, there is less stress on the cables, which makes the lift safer.
A counterweight decreases the amount of energy used by the motor. If you’ve ever sat on a “see-saw,” you’ll know that as long as it’s balanced correctly, you’ll be able to bob up and down dozens of times without getting tired.

This is very different from lifting a person in your arms, where you’ll get very tired very quickly. The second reason for this is also the same as the first: if the engine is not exerting as much force to move the vehicle the same distance, the counterweight does less work against gravity. The counterweight also decreases the amount of braking required by the elevator. Think about it this way: if there was no counterweight, a heavy lift car would be extremely difficult to lift up, but on the return trip, it would most likely fall to the ground on its own if it didn’t have a built-in brake. The counterweight reduces the load on the elevator car, making it easier to operate.
A hoistway is an enclosed space with fireproof walls and lift doors for the transport of one or more lifts, dumbwaiters, or material lifts. It consists of the pit and ends at the base of the overhanging machinery space floor (or grating) or at the base of your roof where your hoistway doesn’t reach the roof’s surface.

Guid Rails
These are steel T-shaped, or formed sections, with guiding surfaces that are installed vertically in your hoistway. They are used to direct and guide the direction of travel of your elevator car and your elevator counterweights as they move through the lift’s system.

Buckers
A buffer is a safety device placed at the base of an elevator to protect the operator. Buffers can reduce the speed of a descending car by collecting or releasing the car’s kinetic energy.

Speed governor: Most elevators have a completely independent speed-control system called a governor. A governor is essentially a flywheel with built-in mechanical arms. Normally, the arms are spring-loaded inside the flywheel, but when the lift moves too quickly, the arms fly outwards, acting as a lever to trip one or more of the braking systems. First, they may disable the lift motor. If this doesn’t work and the lift accelerates, the arms fly out further and trip another mechanism that applies the brakes. Some elevators have mechanical governors, some have electromagnets, and some have a combination of mechanical and electromagnets.

Safety brake
If you’ve ever been in an elevator, you’ve probably experienced the dreaded “what if the cable suddenly snaps?” scenario. In the event that the cable breaks, a range of safety features prevent the elevator car from falling to the ground.

The elevator cars ran between vertical guide rails with solid metal teeth all the way up the rails. Each car was fitted with a spring-loaded hook at the top of the vehicle. If the cable is damaged, the hooks will spring out and get stuck in the guide rails’ metal teeth, locking the car in place.

Just like regular doors, lift doors are also used to open and close the elevator. There are two types of elevator doors: manual doors and automatic doors. A manual elevator door is opened by a person who wishes to enter the elevator. An automatic elevator door is an elevator door that is opened automatically by a door operator. Automatic doors typically have a full height, photo-electric curtain that senses the entrance/exit of people. Elevator doors include hydraulic, car, power pack/ piston, elevator machine, control, hoist way, rails, and car buffer.
