Sharkey Lifting Limited is seeking a motivated, organised and ambitious individual to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of our busy engineering stores and warehouse.

We are an established specialist engineering company operating in the lifting equipment and elevator industries. Having recently invested in and expanded our business, we are looking for the right person to play an important role in supporting our continued growth and success.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and organised running of our engineering stores, managing stock levels, preparing customer orders and coordinating the receipt and dispatch of goods.

You will work closely with our engineering, service and sales teams, while also building strong working relationships with our regular customers and suppliers.

We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, pays attention to detail and understands the importance of having the right equipment, parts and materials available when they are needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operation and organisation of the engineering stores and warehouse.
• Receive, check and put away incoming deliveries, ensuring stock is accurately recorded.
• Pick, pack and prepare customer orders for dispatch accurately and efficiently.
• Arrange outgoing deliveries and collections, ensuring orders are completed on time.
• Monitor stock levels, identify replenishment requirements and place purchase orders with suppliers.
• Maintain accurate stock records and carry out regular stock checks.
• Ensure the warehouse is kept clean, tidy, safe and well organised.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with regular customers, suppliers and colleagues.
• Assist customers with enquiries relating to parts, equipment and order requirements.
• Work closely with the wider team to ensure engineers and customers have the materials and equipment they need.
• Identify opportunities to improve stores processes, stock control and overall efficiency.
• Take ownership of the stores function and contribute to the continued development of the business.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will be practical, reliable and well organised, with a proactive approach to their work and the confidence to take responsibility for their area.

Essential qualities include:

• Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
• A strong work ethic and a willingness to take ownership and responsibility.
• Good computer skills and the ability to use stock management and order processing systems.
• A customer-focused attitude and the ability to build good working relationships.
• A practical, problem-solving mindset and a general interest in engineering or technical equipment.
• The ability to manage competing priorities in a busy working environment.

The following would be a distinct advantage:

• Previous experience in an engineering stores, warehouse or stock control role.
• A forklift licence and experience operating a forklift.
• Experience ordering materials, managing inventory and maintaining stock accuracy.
• Familiarity with engineering components, mechanical equipment, lifting equipment or the elevator industry.
• Experience dealing directly with customers and suppliers.

Industry-specific experience would be beneficial, but it is not essential. We would also welcome applications from candidates with a strong background in general engineering, technical stores or warehouse operations who are keen to learn and develop within our specialist industry.
